You could try your local golf course and see if they have lessons.
I live in the I E and know of many places that have lessons. Most places charge for the hour or for each lesson. I would look up “golf instructors” in the yellow pages or on google.
Golf education may be costly, but not nearly as costly as creating bad habits. If you can’t see a qualified PGA instructor, clinic and group instruction is an inexpensive means to get the proper start. I’d check your local golf courses for available instruction. Rates vary widely so its tough to give you an average for any place in the country.

i taught my self. why listen to someone that couldn’t make it. read watch videos go to the range watch other people. practise. i shoot in the mid to high 70′s been playing for 5 yrs. most think they know it all and whats best for you. only you know whats best. listen to your body.
you can learn what you need to get started from ppl at the range.
I would take a group lesson first. Try to keep is small. Maybe three or four players. Anything beyond that, you probably will not get any attention from your instructor. Once you are able to advance the ball, You could go with individual lessons.
I am a 5 HDCP and I have taken one group lesson in 8 years. There are a lot of publications out there that you can read that will teach you the golf swing. You just have to be patient and manage your expectations. It may be a while before you hit the 165yd 8-iron.
I also taught myself. I watched a ton of pros, videos, read, and practiced. I could’ve saved a lot of time by taking a couple lessons. Even the pros have coaches so it can’t be that bad to have someone assisting you. But for a cheaper alternative a good video camera and perhaps videos online/offline would be just as good. Great post
